According to the AZCentral.com's Doug Haller, the ASU men's basketball program will be keeping head coach Herb Sendek on as the Arizona Board of Regents has approved a new two-year contract extension to keep Sendek in Tempe for the foreseeable future.
Sendek's salary will stay put at at $1.2 million per season, consisting of a base salary of $295,000 with additional payments to the tune of $905,000. It could be bumped up at the beginning of July each summer, wth the increase amount decided by Lisa Love, ASU's current Vice President of Athletics, and subject to the approval from ASU President Michael Crow as well as the board. But then again, he could get no increase.
He will also get a sizable retention bonus for sticking with the program, a nice side payday of $600,000 if he is stays on as head coach through June 30, 2014. His full contract now runs through June 30, 2016.
Sendek, in his sixth season with the Sun Devils, own is 91-80 during his tenure with the program.
