The Arizona St. Sun Devils are moving on from June Jones, and they're throwing themselves into the hat for new faces. Apparently ASU boosters are tired of pursuing retreads, and want to go in a new direction, most likely with a young candidate with promising credentials.
Here is one coach that fits those parameters.
For those who don't know much about Wilcox, he's been fairly successful in most of his spots. He's spent most of his time at Boise State as either a graduate assistant (right after his playing days at Oregon) or as the defensive coordinator for some of Chris Petersen's most successful squads. He was also the Cal linebacking coach on their best teams, and performed modestly well with Tennessee's defense (despite the lack of success for the program on the football field).
Wilcox definitely does have some bona fide coaching chops, but it remains to be seen whether he can utilize them to be a strong coach at the big conference level.
