The Sun Devils saw their collapse come to a merciful end on Thursday night after being blown out in the Las Vegas Bowl by Boise State. After a promising 6-2 start, the team lost their final five games and saw their head coach get fired. While this collapse may seem like one-of-a-kind, it happened just last year. And it happened about 90 miles south of Tempe.
↵The Wildcats were 7-1 and ranked high in the polls, just like ASU. Arizona proceeded to lose their next five game, including the Territorial Cup in a game they were favored in. And just like the Sun Devils, the UA lost their bowl game in blowout fashion by a score of 36-10 and finished with a slightly better record of 7-6.
↵Both programs had dreams of a Rose Bowl, yet they both ended with a blowout loss in a weak bowl game.
↵Fortunately, tomorrow is a new day for the state of Arizona and college football. Rich Rodriguez and Todd Graham, save us. The state needs it. And we definitely don't need any more five-game losing streaks to end the season.
