The Arizona State Sun Devils are preparing for their BCS bowl game matchup against the Boise State Broncos at the Las Vegas Bowl on December 22. ASU's head coach Dennis Erickson has already been informed that he will not be back with the school for the 2012 season, with the operating agreement that this bowl game will be his Sun Devils swan song.
Erickson had expressed a desire for the bowl game and associated practices to be business as usual for the team, but the news coming out of the ASU camp on Monday is certainly discouraging.
Doug Haller of the Arizona Republic was the first to report that Erickson suspended Junior Onyeali for the Las Vegas Bowl.
The ASU Devils Twitter feed later elaborated a bit on the suspension.
A short time later, Craig Morgan of CBS Sports reported that another ASU player may be in danger of missing the bowl game.
Certainly, this is not the way that Erickson or the ASU administration wanted things to be shaking out as the Las Vegas Bowl approaches. Stay tuned for further updates on this situation.
