ASU Football: Conflicting Reports On Kevin Sumlin Being Offered Head Coaching Position

Kevin Sumlin was supposedly offered the Arizona St. Sun Devils head coaching job earlier today. Sumlin was considered the frontrunner for the position when Dennis Erickson was fired. And it looked as if Sumlin would be the guy.

Many reports are indicating that Sumlin has not been offered the position. You can see some of them below.

Per sources with knowledge of the situation, Kevin Sumlin has not been contacted nor been offered the Arizona State job at this time.

In the interest of balance, it should also be reported that #ASU Associate AD, Mark Brand, says Kevin Sumlin has not been offered the job.

Sumlin has an impressive resume. He's been the head coach of the Houston Cougars for four seasons, going 35-16 and is on pace for an undefeated regular season in Conference USA. There's no doubt he's qualified for the job and his offense will match up well with the personnel that are currently in place for the Devils.

However, there might be some concerns about whether Sumlin could succeed in a big conference compared to a  mid-major.
