Week 13 of the college football season saw plenty of bad blood spilled in rivalry games all over the country, but we did not see any of the upsets that created such havoc with the rankings last week. The Week 14 USA Today Coaches Poll and AP Poll surely reflect that stability at the top of the college football rankings with the LSU Tigers (1) easily handling the previously third-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks and staying on top of the pile.
Arkansas fell to no. 6 in the AP poll with the loss while LSU remains in firm control of the rankings with only the SEC Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs next week standing in the way of their undefeated season and a trip to the BCS Title Game.
In the Iron Bowl, the Alabama Crimson Tide had no problem beating the Auburn Tigers by the score of 42-14. Alabama stays at the second spot in the polls and will almost certainly get their chance to face LSU again. Aren't you excited to see how the kickers do?
Elsewhere at the top of the ladder the Stanford Cardinal outclassed the Notre Dame Irish and are ranked no. 4 while the Virginia Tech Hokies had an impressive 38-0 win over the Virginia Cavaliers. The Hokies jumped to the fifth spot in the AP with the win.
In the Pac-12, the Oregon Ducks trounced Oregon State 49-21 in the Civil War game. The USC Trojans proved their control over the Pac-12 South Division with a 50-0 stomping of the UCLA Bruins. We won't get to see the Trojans in the postseason however, due to sanctions. And in the Apple Cup, Washington beat Washington State, 38-21, in a game that had little meaning outside the state.
The top ten of the AP now looks like this: LSU (1), Alabama (2), Oklahoma State (3), Stanford (4), Virginia Tech (5), Arkansas (6), Houston (7), Oregon (8), Boise State and USC tied (9).
