AP Poll, Week 9: LSU Tops Again, Arizona State Climbs to No. 23

After some big upsets over Oklahoma and Wisconsin sent ripple effects through the top 25, the AP Poll for week 9 of the season has some new faces on it, as well as some old ones in new places.

LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Stanford and Boise State round out the top five, while Stanford’s rout of the Washington Huskies helped out their cause a lot, moving them from No. 7 to No. 4. Oregon’s dismantling of Colorado ensured them to move up as well, jumping up two spots from last week to No. 7 in the country, while Clemson moved from No. 8 to No. 6.

Arizona State didn’t even have to play and they got bump up in the rankings, jumping up one spot to No. 23 in the nation as they get ready to host a severely struggling Colorado Buffaloes team next Saturday.

Texas Tech, USC, Penn State and Cincinnati all rode big wins into the top 25 again this week, with Texas Tech jumping all the way to No. 19 after stunning Oklahoma, who dropped to No. 11. Wisconsin fell from No. 4 to No. 12, while Michigan State rose to No. 9.

When LSU plays Alabama next week, it will mark the first time in SEC history that a No. 1 and No. 2 in the AP Poll square off agains each other in the regular season. Can’t wait.
