↵Thursday, January 6th 2011:
↵5:00 p.m., ESPN2: NCAA-B, Xavier @ (24) Cincinnati. Usually a perennial powerhouse, the Xavier Musketeers have been struggling through the year, splitting their last eight games. On the flip side, Cincinnati has been one of the early surprises of the college season, compiling an undefeated 14-0 record to earn a share of the Big East lead.
↵6:00 p.m., TNT: NBA, Oklahoma City Thunder @ Dallas Mavericks. A primetime matchup of two Western Conference powers, as Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder meet up with the streaking, but heavily injured, Dallas Mavericks. The game comes two days after Mavs forward Caron Butler was placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
↵6:00 p.m., ESPN: NCAA-F, Miami (Ohio) vs. Middle Tennessee State, GoDaddy.com Bowl from Mobile, Alabama. The former GMAC Bowl pits the MAC Champion Miami Redhawks against the Sun Belt's 6-6 Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. Who says there are to many bowl games?
↵6:30 p.m., FSNAZ: NCAA-B, Stanford @ Arizona State. This local matchup features two up-and-coming teams in the Pac-10. The Stanford Cardinal have put up some impressive performances thus far in the season, and are currently tied for first place in the conference. One the other side, after starting the season 3-4, the ASU Sun Devils have ripped off victories in five of their last six contests.
↵7:00 p.m., ESPN2: NCAA-B, Northwestern @ (20) Illinois. The 9-3 Northwestern Wildcats clash against the twentieth ranked 12-3 Illinois Fighting Illini in a primetime Big-10 matchup.
↵8:30 p.m., TNT: NBA, Denver Nuggets @ Sacramento Kings. I do wonder what the schedule makers where thinking when this was made a nationally televised game. Absolutely nothing about Kings/Nuggets screams "primetime". Still, you'll get a chance to see streaking rookie DeMarcus Cousins and a scrappy, young Sacramento squad face off against Carmelo Anthony and the veteran Denver Nuggets.
↵8:30 p.m., FSNAZ: NCAA-B, California @ Arizona. The last relevant game of te night features two teams on the opposite side of the spectrum. The revitalized Arizona Wildcats look much improved from last year's team, already ripping off win streaks of three, four, and five in the first fifteen games. Meanwhile, the California Golden Bears have fallen on hard times, losing in four of their last six outings after a promising 5-2 start to the season.
