ASU Sun Devil Men's Basketball Loses At Home To Richmond, 67-61

Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) – Justin Harper scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds as he helped lead the Richmond Spiders to a 67-61 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils in non-conference action at Wells-Fargo Arena.

Harper finished the afternoon shooting 10-of-14 from the floor for the Spiders (7-2) including 3-of-4 behind the three-point line. Kevin Anderson accounted for 14 points and Dan Geriot 11 as Richmond won for the fifth time in the last six outings.

The Sun Devils (3-4) were paced by Trent Lockett who recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the team’s third consecutive setback. Kyle Cain and Rihards Kuksiks both posted 14 points and Ty Abbott 11, the latter shooting just 3-of-11 from the floor in the contest.

ASU trailed by an 8-2 score early in the first half and, with just 32.0 percent shooting from the floor in the period, the Sun Devils found themselves behind by three at the break, 31-28.

In the second half the hosts continued to have a hard time hitting the mark, converting just 36.7 percent from the field, en route to the six-point loss.

Richmond managed to make good on 7-of-16 behind the three-point line on the day, but still left the door open with just 10-of-19 at the free-throw line.
