Second Quarter Report: ASU Offense Comes Alive Against UCLA, Scores 21 Unanswered Points To Even Score, 21-20

The momentum swung in Arizona State's favor as they held the Bruins to an early fourth down to get great field position to start the second quarter. Osweiler continued to throw the ball well, moving the Sun Devils 51 yards in 33 seconds, concluding the drive with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Mike Willie. The Devils showed great heart, fighting back after digging themselves into an early 17-0 hole.

The defense promptly held UCLA to a three-and-out, handing the ball to the offense at the ASU 32. Osweiler has thrown the ball into some tight windows thus far, but has come out unscathed. After just overthrowing a third down conversion, Trevor Hankins gave the Sun Devils' defense excellent position, pinning the Bruins back on the eight yard line.

Again the defense held strong, forcing the Bruins into a quick punt. Good back-and-forth defensive battle going on through most of the second quarter.

Steven Threet apparently left the game with a head injury. His return is questionable, but at the moment Osweiler is doing a fantastic job.

After trading a few more punts, Arizona State was able to dink-and-dunk their way down the field, embarking on an 11 play, 63 yard drive, capping off with a seven yard touchdown pass to Gerell Robinson. 21 unanswered points.

UCLA was able to drive 56 yards in the last minute of the quarter and get a second chance at a 38-yard field goal due to a James Brooks penalty. Horrible breakdown to close the quarter. 21-20 at halftime.
