FOX Sports Next named a pair of Arizona State Sun Devils — running back D.J. Foster and defensive lineman Jaxon Hood — to their 2012 Freshman All-American team.
Foster, a Scottsdale product, was named to the site's first team, while Hood, who hails from Chandler, Ariz., was named to the second team. Foster was added to the team as an all-purpose member after combining to account for more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage for the Sun Devils in his first year.
Foster rushed for 492 yards and compiled 522 yards receiving for a combined six touchdowns. Against the UCLA Bruins in late November, the freshman combined for 168 yards and a touchdown in the Sun Devils' loss to UCLA.
In his first season at ASU, Hood proved effective in the trenches, recording 23 tackles, 10 of which were solo efforts, and recording three sacks on the season.
Both Hood and Foster will help the Sun Devils take on the Navy Midshipmen in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Dec. 29.
