Having lost three straight games after a 3-0 start to the season, the Arizona Wildcats are on a bye this week and in addition to trying to regroup, they are also using the week off to get some freshmen some extra practice repetitions.
Without having to prepare for an opponent, Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez said some freshmen have received a few extra repetitions this week in practice. Rodriguez also said he likes the current crop of freshmen despite the fact the new coaching staff didn't have a full season to recruit.
The extra practice reps could be a big benefit not only down the road, but possibly this season. Arizona has played a few freshmen this season, and the Wildcats lack defensive depth. Rodriguez said the number of snaps some players have been forced to play due to lack of depth has been "ridiculous."
With no game this weekend, Arizona players will have Saturday off.
