D-backs Vs. Padres: Arizona Defeats San Diego, 8-5

It would take a miracle at this point for either Arizona (9.5 GB) or San Diego (14.5 GB) to catch up to San Francisco. The teams are playing for dignity and employment next season. D-Backs' starting pitcher Wade Miley would earn his team leading 15th win of the season on a 8-5 victory over the Padres.

Arizona chased SD starting pitcher Casey Kelly from the game after only 2.1 innings. In that short period of time, Kelly gave up eight hits and six runs, three of which were home runs. Thanks to Kelly, Jason Kubel would go on to hit his team high 28th and 29th home runs on the season.

After Kelly's exit, the Padres' bullpen would surrender only two runs on seven hits. One of those hits would be the D-Backs fourth homer of the night, this time off the bat of Justin Upton.

D-Backs' starter Wade Miley had a less-than-stellar night with five runs on eight hits. It didn't matter though because he got the win in the end. Credit JJ Putz with his 29th save.
