Diamondbacks Vs Cubs: Errors doom D-backs in 7-2 series finale loss

The Arizona Diamondbacks committed three errors on Sunday afternoon against the Chicago Cubs as they went on to lose by a score of 7-2. The club now has just one series remaining this season, and it'll begin against the Colorado Rockies on Monday night at Chase Field.

Josh Collmenter tossed five strong innings on the mound, allowing just one run to score on six hits. He did not walk any batters and struck out two. Where the wheels fell off is once the bullpen took over the game, surrendering six runs (one earned) over the final four innings of play.

With the Diamondbacks trailing 1-0 in the first inning, Cody Ransom hit a two-run single to give Arizona the lead. That score held until the sixth inning when the Cubs scratched across four runs. Chicago then added on insurance runs in the seventh and ninth innings, all-but-ending the game for Arizona.

Wade Miley will look to improve his resumé for NL Rookie of the Year on Monday as he takes on Drew Pomeranz of the Rockies. First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. PT.
