The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to build off of Sunday's 10-2 win over the N.L. West-leading San Francisco Giants when they play the first of a three-game series against the red hot San Diego Padres at Chase Field on Tuesday night.
The Diamondbacks will send right-hander Ian Kennedy (13-11, 4.21) to the mound. He's 3-1 with a 3.52 ERA in his last five starts, and is coming off a stellar outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers in which he threw 7⅓ shutout innings and surrendered just four hits.
The Padres will counter with left-hander Eric Stults (6-2, 2.54), who is 3-0 with a 2.67 ERA in his last five starts for the Padres, winners of eight of their last 10 games.
