Arizona Diamondbacks Player/Pitcher Of The Week: Paul Goldschmidt And Josh Collmenter Get The Nod Going Into The Break

The Arizona Diamondbacks closed out the first half of the season with three straight wins over the Los Angeles Dodgers, cutting their deficit in the division to four games. Of course, they lost six straight before that, which got them more in a hole.

However, there were players that were excellent all week. We recognize first baseman Paul Goldschmidt for the fourth time this season and pitcher Josh Collmenter for the second time as player and pitcher of the week.

Goldie did not have the highest batting average among position players for the week. That was Gerardo Parra, who in four games hit .41y. But Goldschmidt was not far behind at .385, but he homered and drove in seven for the week, including four RBI on Sunday to cement Trevor Bauer's first major league win.

Collmenter only pitched once, but had the impact. His six innings on Friday were solid, allowing just one earned run. He picked up his first win of the year and made his case after two straight very strong starting efforts to remain in the starting rotation after the team's return from the All-Star Break.

The stats for those at home:

Player of the Week awards:

Parra (1), Kubel (1), Roberts (1), Goldschmidt (4), Bloomquist (1), Montero (1), Hill (3)

Pitcher of the Week awards:

Saunders (1), Cahill (3), Corbin (1), Miley (5), Collmenter (2)
