Trevor Bauer Forced To Sit Out Next Two Starts, Doesn't Seem Too Happy About It

News broke on Wednesday that Trevor Bauer, the young rookie phenom that was recently demoted back to AAA Reno by the Diamondbacks, will not be making his next two starts. Aces manager Brett Butler decided that due to Bauer's most recent injuries and struggles, he will stay out of the rotation for the next handful of days.

Being the competitor that Bauer is, he doesn't seem to be all that thrilled.

Per Chris Gabel, beat writer for the Aces:

"They seem to think the break will help me mentally, physically, all the way around. I'm not one to miss starts. I hate missing starts. I train so I don't have to miss starts," Bauer said. "If it was my choice I wouldn't be missing starts. They seem to think it's the best thing and it's a good time, so that's what we're doing."

With Bauer's strict regimen and pre-game warm-ups, it does seem that taking a break is the right thing to do. He is young and with his new introduction to pitching every five days, a little rest seems almost necessary.

Throw in the fact that he was hit by a couple of line drives last Sunday, both in the wrist and in the foot, and you would think there would be little argument. But that wasn't the case.

"I'm doing what they tell me to do. We'll see how it goes and hopefully at the end of it I can get back to being able to pitch how I'm used to pitching, out of normal delivery with my normal mechanics," Bauer said. "I'm not sure how I feel about that (being forced to sit) yet."

Here's the thing, Trevor. You are paid by the Diamondbacks so that means you have to do what they tell you to. In any other job, you would be forced to do as your employer says, so why would playing baseball be any different? Such is life and being stubborn and resistant about it will get you nowhere fast.

Hopefully this type of contention doesn't become a normal thing between Bauer and the D-backs. Otherwise, we might have a bigger issue on our hands somewhere down the road.
