The Arizona Diamondbacks have struggled for most of May, and only won their first series of the month this past weekend by taking two games out of three against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Arizona went 4-3 on their road trip, including splitting a two-game series with the Dodgers last Monday and Tuesday. It'll be their first meeting in Phoenix this season.
Chris Young is back in the lineup for the Diamondbacks. Here are the notes against the Dodgers.
2B Mark Ellis was placed on the DL today. SS Dee Gordon has been benched "for a few days," and almost certainly won't start Monday and Wednesday vs. LHP (Tuesday is a maybe, he is in an awful slump). IF/OF Jerry Hairston Jr. will likely be activated from the DL Wednesday for the series finale. He could technically return as soon as Tuesday, but it sounds like the plan is rehab game Monday/Tuesday, then playing Wednesday. Dodgers currently have 4 starters (Ellis, Kemp, Uribe, Rivera) on the DL, as well as Hairston and reliever Matt Guerrier.
