Will Miley Remain In Rotation?

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson was asked about pitcher Wade Miley before Wednesday's game -- which was played under the roof at Chase Field out of the 90-degree humidity in Phoenix -- and wouldn't commit to keeping the lefty in the starting rotation despite a strong six-inning performance Monday.

"I understand your curiosity," Gibson told the reporter who asked. "I'm not withholding any information. I don't have an answer for you. If you guys haven't noticed by now, I tend to take my time in letting things out and talk to many people... no rush to make a decision right now.

"It's not as easy (a decision) as it might seem because he threw six innings. That's certainly one of the reasons why you'd think he deserves to do it again. At the same time, you have to look at the overall starting rotation and overall bullpen, our schedule," Gibson added. "It takes time to process all that."

As it now stands, Ian Kennedy, Joe Saunders, Josh Collmenter and Wednesday's starter, Trevor Cahill, are in the rotation. Daniel Hudson is on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder problem.

Hudson, Geoff Blum and Stephen Drew will all remain in Arizona when the team is back East. They''ll do rehab work at Salt River Fields, Gibson said. Hudson has yet to throw, but if all goes well he could throw a bullpen session after the team returns from the road.
