The Arizona Diamondbacks have expressed an interest in pitcher Ryan Dempster, Jon Morosi of Fox Sports tweeted on Tuesday.

There are a lot of solid free agent pitchers on the market this year, including Zack Grienke and Brandon McCarthy. Dempster, a 15-year veteran, would provide back end support for the Diamondbacks rotation.

A career 4.33 ERA pitcher with an even 124-124 record, Dempster enjoyed most of his success in his career with Chicago Cub. In 2008 he went 17-6 with a 2.96 ERA and finished sixth in the NL Cy Young voting.

The Diamondbacks have plenty of young prospects to fill the 2013 rotation, but will need some veteran help as Daniel Hudson will most likely be out until the All-Star break - leaving just Trevor Cahill and Ian Kennedy with sizeable big league experience.

Dempster is reportedly seeking a multi-year deal and the Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins have been listening in on the pitcher as well.
