The Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Wednesday that former Philadelphia Phillies hitting coach Greg Gross will serve the same role for the D-backs' Triple-A affiliate in Reno.
The team also made it known who would make up the rest of their 2013 minor league coaching staff, who combined have over 150 seasons of major league playing experience among them.
Jeff Pico, a former pitching coordinator, will serve as field coordinator, while Mel Stottlemyre Jr. will serve as pitching coordinator for the fifth season. Alan Cockrell was most recently with the Colorado Rockies and served as the team's hitting coach from 2007-08 -- he'll serve that role for Reno this season.
Returning as Reno's manager will be Brett Butler, who will begin his fifth season in that capacity. Butler played for five different major league teams from 1981-1997. Former Diamondbacks infielder Andy Green will serve as manager for Double-A Mobile. He led Rookie-Advanced Missoula to a league championship last season and will be tasked with trying to repeat his success at the next level.
