Major League Baseball handed out its awards in mid-November, and now the AZ Snake Pit is taking its turn. Voting is currently underway for the Diamondbacks' Rookie of the Year, in what appears to be a clear-cut race.
The frontrunner is Wade Miley, who finished second to Bryce Harper in the NL Rookie of the Year vote by the BBWAA. Miley posted a 16-11 record and a 3.33 ERA in 194.2 innings pitched. His great season earned him a place on the All-Star team in July.
But Miley wasn't the only Arizona rookie to make a strong debut this season. Fellow rookie starter Patrick Corbin went 6-8 with a 4.54 ERA, while reliever Bryan Shaw posted a 3.49 ERA in 59.1 innings pitched.
Meanwhile, the hitters nominated were Adam Eaton and Ryan Wheeler. Eaton posted a .794 OPS in 85 at-bats for Arizona, while Wheeler hit .239 for the Diamondbacks before being traded to Colorado.
