The Arizona Diamondbacks are exploring trade options for left fielder Jason Kubel, according to a report on AZCentral.com.
The Diamondbacks have Gerardo Parra, who started in left field and won a Gold Glove in 2011, as another option at the position, which is why they feel comfortable testing the open market with Kubel, who played in 141 games this season and hit 30 home runs.
"They're two different kinds of players," general manager Kevin Towers told AZCentral.com. "One is more of a defender [Parra]. The other one is more of a power guy [Kubel]. In a perfect world, they both fit, but I think it just depends on the rest of our club.
"Really, a lot of it depends on what happens this winter and what we're able to do in other areas. Then we can figure out which guy makes more sense. We like both of them."
In evaluating their options, the Diamondbacks must decide what they value more out of the left field position: the defense from Parra or the hitting from Kubel.
