Trevor Bauer and Adam Eaton named Arizona Diamondbacks players of the year

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Tuesday pitcher Trevor Bauer and outfielder Adam Eaton as the organization's 2012 Pitcher and Player of the Year.

Both players spent most of their 2012 season in the minor leagues. Bauer has started four games for the Diamondbacks this season to mixed results. He was fantastic in the minors though, going 12-2 with a 2.42 ERA and 157 strikeouts over 22 starts.

Adam Eaton was called up to the big leagues on Sept. 4 and quickly cemented himself as the starting centerfielder and leadoff hitter. But he only lasted 22 games with the Diamondbacks before a broken hand ended his season early. The speedy Eaton put up decent numbers in his first big leagues get-go, posting a .259/.382/.412 line with 19 runs scored and two stolen bases.

Like Bauer, Eaton did most of his damage in the minor leagues this year. He absolutely annihilated AAA pitching, hitting .381/.456/.539 while scoring 119 runs and stealing 38 bases. He totaled 198 hits in the minor leagues in 2012, good for the most in all of Minor League Baseball.
