The Arizona Diamondbacks were a playoff team in 2011, taking the NL West title with ease while stacking their lineup with talent this offseason, almost certainly coming out a stronger team in 2012.
ESPN's schedule makers must have forgotten all about that.
The Sunday Night Baseball schedule was announced on Wednesday, and somehow the D-backs were left completely off the board, joining the Milwaukee Brewers as the only only team to get shunned by ESPN. Conversely, the Dodgers got themselves a game, playing the St. Louis Cardinals on May 20.
Luckily there is a large gap, from July 22-September 23 to be exact, where Arizona could get lucky and get a game tossed their way by ESPN. They might wish they had sooner with the players Kirk Gibson's got assembled this season.
