MLB Opening Night 2012: Diamondbacks Face Giants As Part of ESPN 5-Pack of Games

The Arizona Diamondbacks fulfilled their 2011 destiny by taking home the NL West crown, but want to push it even further into the playoffs this season, starting with their opening matchup against their interconference rivals the San Francisco Giants on Friday, April 6 on ESPN2 as part of ESPN's 5-pack of opening week games.

Along with the Diamondbacks, ESPN will have a number of great teams taking the field opening week, highlighting some major story lines in baseball this year.

Opening week begins on Wednesday, April 4 as the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals take on the new look Miami Marlins at 4 pm PT on ESPN. Thursday will have two East juggernauts clash as the Boston Red Sox take on the Detroit Tigers at 11 am PT, then the Marlins once again, this time taking on the Cincinnati Reds at 1 pm PT on ESPN2.

The D-backs and Giants will start at 4 pm PT on ESPN2 on Friday, followed by the debut of Albert Pujols with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim taking on the Kansas City Royals at 7 pm PT on ESPN2.
