Do you ever have a funny feeling in your chest? Sometimes it is a premonition of bad things to come, but other times it is a positive sensation that runs up into your head and shoots out your ears like a cartoon megaphone.
↵I had that sensation last night when I finally came to a logical conclusion: the Arizona Diamondbacks are going to play October baseball.
↵With only 19 games left in the regular season, the D-backs are up seven games in the NL West pennant race over the San Francisco Giants, and the outlook for the bay area club is middling at best. Arizona's schedule is quite favorable to finishing the season strong, with games solely against the NL West and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
↵It would take a collapse of Herculean proportions for the Diamondbacks to falter, and manager Kirk Gibson is too gritty to let that happen.
↵Arizona is at the opening of what sports fans call the "window of opportunity," and the next 3-5 years should see the D-backs fielding a playoff-caliber team every summer.
