The Diamondbacks announced that they've called up catcher Robby Hammock from Triple-A Reno for their weekend series with the Giants. The Diamondbacks look to build on a nine-game win streak and further separate themselves from second-place San Francisco. Arizona currently has a six-game lead on the slumping Giants.
Hammock, 34, was hitting .257 (26-for-101) for the Reno Aces, with 7 doubles, a triple, 5 home runs and 21 RBI over the last 37 games. He's a journeyman with several stints in the Majors in five partial seasons, with a career .255 average, 30 doubles, 4 triples, 12 home runs and 48 RBI in 180 games. His name might sound familiar because he caught Randy Johnson's perfect game on May 18, 2004 in Atlanta, only the fifteenth in the modern era at that date.
Hammock will look to stick in the Majors this time around with Arizona.
The Diamondbacks also announced that Saturday's game against the Giants will be televised by FOX Sports Arizona Plus at 6:00pm PST. Here are the channel listings for that:
