Arizona Diamondbacks Vs. San Diego Padres: Last Road Series Of 2011

The D-backs open up their final road series of the season. Wade Miley, Josh Collmenter and Joe Saunders are scheduled to pitch.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are set open their final road series of the 2011 MLB season. The road stand also marks the final time we will see the San Diego Padres this season. With just 12 total games left, we are going to be saying "final time of the season" a lot in the coming days.

The Padres are fresh off getting swept by the San Francisco Giants who finally decided it would a nice time to play baseball. Fortunately for us in Arizona, they are still seven games back which means it would take an EPIC collapse by the Snakes to not win the NL West. And the D-backs have shown no signs of slowing. If anything, they are playing their best ball lately.

The team to watch closely in the standings is still the Milwaukee Brewers who are dead even with the D-backs at 87-63. Getting home field in the NLDS would be huge.

Here's the schedule and pitching match ups for this series in San Diego.

  • Friday (7:05 p.m.) : Wade Miley (3-1, 4.50) vs. Tim Stauffer (8-12, 3.87)
  • Saturday (5:10 p.m.) : Josh Collmenter (9-9, 3.40) vs. Wade LeBlanc (3-5, 5.43)
  • Sunday (1:10 p.m.) : Joe Saunders (11-12, 3.83) vs. Aaron Harang (13-6, 3.85)

The Friday and Sunday games will be on Fox Sports Arizona. Saturday is scheduled not to be on TV but that could change. Game threads will be at AZ Snake Pit.

Remember this from the last time Justin Upton was in San Diego?

Check out how the boys on the farm are doing. Nice work by Jarrod Parker!

Double-A Mobile Round-Up 9/15: Marathon Edition - AZ Snake Pit
The Southern League Championship Series is an interesting thing.  On one hand, it's wonderful for Double-A Mobile to have taken a 2-0 lead over Tennessee, leaving them just one game away from capping off a three-game sweep, with the club set to send the always-dominant Tyler Skaggs to the mound for game three.

On the other hand, however, the Southern League playoffs are set up such that the team with home field advantage plays the final three games at home, so Mobile has to win a game at Tennessee.  If anybody can do it, though, my money's on Skaggs.
