(PHOENIX) - The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have recalled right-handed pitcher Kam Mickolio from Triple-A Reno and placed right-handed pitcher Sam Demel on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President and General Manager Kevin Towers.
Mickolio, 27, posted a 1-3 record and 4.42 ERA (9 ER in 18.1 IP) with 6 walks and 16 strikeouts in 15 games with the Aces. He tossed scoreless innings in each of his last 4 games with the Aces and held the opposition scoreless in 10 of his 15 games overall. Mickolio owned a 9.00 ERA (5 ER in 5.0 IP) with a walk and 6 strikeouts in 4 games with the D-backs prior to being optioned to Reno on April 13.
Demel, 25, posted a 1-2 record and 1.72 ERA (3 ER in 15.2 IP) with 7 walks and 10 strikeouts in 21 games with the D-backs. He held the opposition scoreless in his last 6 outings and has not allowed an earned run over his last 16 games. This is the first time in his career Demel has been placed on the disabled list.
