Armando Galarraga will make his first start with the Diamondbacks after beating out Aaron Heilman for the final spot in the rotation. Skipper Kirk Gibson had the option of skipping Galarraga's start thanks to the snow day in Colorado that pushed everyone back, but told reporters in Chicago that he wanted to give the ball to Armando.
"I've been watching all his bullpens, and he's been throwing the ball better and better," Gibson said. "I think it's important to have Armando throw right now.
The Cubs will throw their Opening Day starter, Ryan Dempster. Dempster got rocked in the start when he gave up a homerun that left his ERA at 8.10 on the season. He did have seven strikeouts though and will be looking to avenge his first loss of the season.
Your D-backs lineup for the day is: Bloomquist SS, Young CF, Johnson 2B, Upton RF, Montero C, Mora 3B, Miranda 1B, Parra LF, Galarraga RHP
First pitch is scheduled for 11:20 a.m. local time with the game broadcast here in Phoenix on Fox Sports AZ and 620 KTAR radio. For more on the game and to discuss the Diamondbacks with other fans, visit AZ Snakepit.
