Mets Earn Series Sweep With 8-4 Win Over Arizona

Jonathon Niese went seven strong innings, and Jason Pridie added a three run home run as the New York Mets swept the Arizona Diamondbacks, winning 8-4 on Sunday afternoon in New York City.

David Wright, Carlos Beltran, Ike Davis and Jason Bay combined for seven hits on the day, solving Arizona starting pitcher Armando Galarraga and reliever Josh Collmenter

Stephen Drew had a great game for the D-backs, going 3/4 on the afternoon and picking up two RBI. Gerardo Parra added two hits in a rare start. Chris Young and Miguel Montero both went 0/4 on the game.

The Diamondbacks were never in the game, as the Mets jumped out to a six run lead in the third inning on Pridie's three-run homer. Wright hit two home runs (in the first and fourth innings, respectively).

With the loss, Arizona drops to 8-12 on the season, and a once-promising road trip has turned into a rough stretch for the D-backs. There is no rest for the wary, as they travel back to the Grand Canyon state to take on the Philadelphia Phillies tomorrow night at Chase Field.
