Arizona's former Cy Young winner, Brandon Webb, has reportedly agreed to sign with the Texas Rangers for one year in an effort to restore value to his career. This signing follows on the heels of the Barret Loux signing in November, marking the second pitcher the Rangers have picked up off the Diamondbacks in the past month.
Webb has not pitched since opening day in 2009, and is a low-risk, high-reward pickup for the Rangers after losing out on the Cliff Lee sweepstakes. The Diamondbacks deserved Webb's patronage after paying his salary for the past two years.
There hasn't been official word on the amount of money that Webb agreed to sign for, but chances are that it is an incentive-laden contract that pays him based on innings pitched and effectiveness. If he shows signs of his former, Cy Young-winning self, this signing will be worth its weight in gold for Texas.
