As the Arizona Cardinals continue their search for their next head coach after dismissing Ken Whisenhunt, Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is emerging as a heavy favorite to be offered the position.
ArizonaSports.com is reporting that McCoy is among the hottest of all the assistant coaches at this point. ESPN's John Clayton said as much during an interview with Sports 620's Doug and Wolf.
"He's the hottest of all the assistant coaches, I don't think there's any doubt about that," Clayton told the show.
McCoy has shown that he can work with a different types of of personnel. He had success with offenses that featured the likes of Tim Tebow and Peyton Manning. Those two quarterbacks couldn't be more different, and it speaks volumes as to McCoy's ability to make adjustments to players' skill sets and get the most out of players. It's what's made him so popular with teams around the league.
Prior to joining the Broncos' staff, he spent nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers.
