Former Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid was once thought to be the frontrunner for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching vacancy, but Reid canceled a planned visit to Arizona and is instead close to joining the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a report from AZCentral.com.
The report states the Cardinals hoped to interview Reid this week, but those plans changed as Reid and the Chiefs continued to work on a possible deal. After firing Ken Whisenhunt, Cardinals president Michael Bidwill named Reid as one of the candidates he was hoping to interview. In addition to the Cardinals, Reid also canceled a planed visit with the San Diego Chargers.
With Reid no longer a candidate in Arizona, the Cardinals will turn their attention to other candidates. Current defensive coordinator Ray Horton already interviewed with Bidwill while Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley and Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy are among other potential candidates.
