The Arizona Cardinals will play their fifth and final preseason game Thursday when they travel to Denver to take on the Broncos.
The Cardinals enter the game 1-3 in the preseason, but the big story will once again be the starting quarterback competition between Kevin Kolb and John Skelton. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt is yet to announce a starter for the regular season and while the competition continues in practice, neither Kolb or Skelton are expected to play against the Broncos. Instead, rookie Ryan Lindley will start the game.
While it may make sense to continue to evaluate Kolb and Skelton in Thursday's game, Whisenhunt said because it's unknown how long the Denver starters would play, it would be difficult to give both players reps against equal competition.
Against the Broncos, the Cardinals will be up against Peyton Manning, who they pursued in the offseason. Manning ended up signing with Denver and has looked like the Manning of old at times. In Denver's last preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, Manning completed 10-of-12 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns.
Game Date/Time: Thursday, August 30; 8 p.m. PT
Location: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Ariz.
TV Schedule: NFL Network
