Arizona Cardinals In Good Salary Cap Shape With Roster Set

The Arizona Cardinals earlier in the offseason were only a few hundred thousand shy of the salary cap. However, after signing their draft picks and moving some contracts around, they are in much better shape. The Cardinals are currently $4.55 million under the salary cap, according to Pro Football Talk.

This number is bigger than 13 other teams, but is not a final number.

Darren Urban notes on the team's official website that the current number is based on the highest paid 51 spots on the roster. The final number will include the final 53-man roster, in addition to any players on the practice squad or on injured reserve.

With that much room left, it gives the team some flexibility. They do not necessarily have to make any roster moves based on salary alone. They also have room to pick up a player upgrade, should one come available after cuts later on.

In the meantime, however, it looks like Arizona will be content standing pat with the players they currently have.
