Arizona Cardinals Patrick Peterson Is No. 55 In NFL Top 100 Players

When the Arizona Cardinals drafted cornerback Patrick Peterson last year with the fifth overall selection in the NFL Draft, it was hoped that he would become an impact player in the defensive backfield. He has not yet done that, but he made a huge impact in special teams with four punt returns for touchdowns, a rookie record for punt return yards and a blocked field goal.

He made a trip to the Pro Bowl as a returner, and now he is recognized by his fellow players as one of the top 100 players in the league. He came in at number 55, and one of two rookies (the other likely being Von Miller).

Kicker David Akers raves about him (while hating when he plays against him.

Cardinals wideout Larry Fitzgerald discusses how Peterson, at his size, runs with the same shiftiness that players carrying 20 pounds less, thus giving him the elusiveness and also the strength to power through tacklers.

Safety Adrian Wilson says that Peterson has the ability to become a top three cornerback in the league.

Peterson, though, is not satisfied, albeit honored. This is what he said to Darren Urban:

↵

"That's definitely special that I have the respect from my peers around the league, to consider me in the top 100," Peterson said. "It gives me something to work on through the rest of my career. I want to get into the top 10."
