New Arizona Cardinals Draft Pick Jamell Fleming Very Confident he Can Contribute

The Arizona Cardinals drafted Oklahoma cornerback Jamell Fleming with their third round pick Friday night. It was a surprise to say the least, as the team's greatest need is on the offensive line. After the selection, writers were able to talk to him and get some quotes. He showed great confidence in his ability and how ready he is for the NFL.

Fleming, in addition to cornerback, is able to play a little safety, which will give the defense some flexibility. But as for what he can do on defense, he said this:

"They say the NFL is a passing league, and that's all we did in the Big 12 was pass."

He is absolutely right. He was playing opposite players like Oklahoma State stud receiver Justin Blackmon.

But playing on defense is not the only thing he can do. He sounded kind of like Patrick Peterson in confidence.

"I got a highlight reel just on special teams."

Interesting. He will need to be able to contribute on special teams to see much playing time this season. Rarely do the Cardinals play rookies right away.

Fleming was a pick that the Cardinals said they simply could not pass up. Hopefully he can make contributions early on and all season.
