The Arizona Cardinals had to wait a while, but they final were able to make their selection in the NFL Draft on Friday. They did not have a second round selection because of the trade they made last offseason to acquire quarterback Kevin Kolb, so they had to wait until the 17th pick of the third round. With that pick, they selected Jamell Fleming, a cornerback from the Oklahoma Sooners. These NFL Draft 2012 results confirm the projection for Fleming, whose stock dropped to a second day pick after a poor combine.
Fleming's play speaks for itself. He's a two-time first-team All-Big 12 player who impressed at the Senior Bowl. However, a very average 4.53 40-yard dash time at combine and less than ideal size at 5-11 likely cost him a chance to be a first-round pick.
