The Arizona Cardinals are gearing up for the upcoming season and will begin their offseason workouts this week. One of their key players may not be present for any of the upcoming voluntary team workouts.
According to Darren Urban at the official Arizona Cardinals blog, defensive end Calais Campbell will not be attending any workouts until he can work out a deal with the team. The Cardinals opted to apply their franchise tag to Campbell in the offseason, but the player has not yet signed his tender.
Asked if he was planning to come this week, Campbell said in text message "Not until I sign a deal and that hasn't happened yet so hopefully soon but not yet."
There are some other notable players around the league who have also not signed their franchise tenders, but unlike those cases, Campbell is being communicative about the issue. He sounds upbeat and optimistic about the situation and the two sides have until July 16 to work out a potential long-term deal
