Peyton Manning Rumored To Be Eyeing Miami Dolphins As Team On Short List

The offseason is only a couple of days old, but the one thing that has dominated the news since the end of teh regular season has been the situation with Peyton Manning. It is particularly pertinent here in Arizona because there is widespread speculation that Manning might end up a member of the Arizona Cardinals if the Indianapolis Colts release him before March 8, when he is due a $28 million bonus.

However, while Arizona is the odd-on favorite in Vegas to land the future Hall of Famer, there is a report that says that the Miami Dolphins are the team to watch.

The Sun-Sentinel reports that NFL sources have revealed that Manning has several reasons to be interested in the Dolphins should he be released. Says the article:

Manning and his wife own a condo on South Beach and a source said they'd love to relocate to South Florida if the fit is right. A second source confirmed Manning's interest in the Dolphins.

Playing for the Dolphins would allow Manning to remain in the AFC, and the Colts are on Miami's schedule next season, which is an added bonus.

Miami does have great weather and it is in the AFC. Other reports state that another factor to remain in the AFC is because of the possibility he could face his brother Eli in the Super Bowl.

The Dolphins have a solid defense and a good offensive line. They also have a very talented receiver in Brandon Marshall. However, they play in the same division as the New England Patriots and would have to travel to New York and Foxborough, which are not know for their great football conditions.

In the meantime, Manning is still under contract with the Colts and would like to remain that way. Until the possible cut, Cardinals fans and fans of any other team with a quarterback issue will be sitting, speculating and waiting.
