Though the official announcement of the 2013 Pro Bowl rosters is set for 7 p.m. ET Wednesday night, Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports that Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson will be a starter for the NFC.
Peterson has 53 tackles and seven interceptions through 15 games in his second NFL season out of LSU. Heading into the final week of play, the 6'1, 219-pound cornerback is tied for second place in the league in interceptions, and only Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings (with eight picks) has more. Peterson is tied at seven with with New York Giants safety Stevie Brown and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman.
He also has 15 pass deflections on the year.
Albert Breer of NFL Network reports that Sherman did not make the opposite cornerback spot. Highlight reels and the fan vote could have been helped give Peterson an edge. He served as a punt returner in his first two NFL seasons, but after recording four punt returns for touchdowns last year, he has not broken open a run this season with one game remaining.
