NFL Power Rankings: Cardinals avoid cellar

The Arizona Cardinals are doing just enough to keep themselves out of the NFL cellar.

USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals snapped a nine-game losing streak on Sunday with a win against the Detroit Lions, and the win is keeping them just out of the discussion when it comes to the NFL's worst teams. The Cardinals ranked from 27th to 29th across some of the NFL power rankings going into Week 16.

SB Nation's Joel Thorman was the harshest critic of Arizona, ranking the Cardinals No. 29 in the NFL. He places the 5-9 team below the Lions (4-10) and the Oakland Raiders (4-10), and only the Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs fall below Arizona. Thorman had Arizona ranked No. 30 last week.

Yahoo!'s Brian McIntyre ranks the Cardinals No. 28 and moved them up two spots from last weeks' No. 30 ranking.

ESPN was the most forgiving of Arizona's situation, sliding the Cardinals up to No. 27, up two spots from last week's ranking. Credit from Mike Sando goes to Beanie Wells, who had a three-touchdown performance against the Lions.
