Arizona Cardinals reportedly waive LB Jamaal Westerman

The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly waived linebacker Jamaal Westerman to potentially make way for running back Beanie Wells.

Adam Caplan of NFL.com reports that the Arizona Cardinals have waived outside linebacker Jamaal Westerman, possibly as a precursor to bring back one of their biggest stars. Westerman's days were probably numbered after undrafted rookie Zack Nash overtook him on depth chart. Westerman was inactive for this past weekend's game. He's had a quiet 2012 regular season, logging only one total tackle in five appearances.

Westerman being waived could also be part of the process to bring Cardinals running back Beanie Wells back onto the active list. Wells has been out most of the season. Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt has already confirmed that Wells is ready to return and will see some practice time this week. Wells has struggled during the limited number of carries he's received this season, rushing for only 76 yards on 29 carries. He has been out much of the year with a toe injury and has only played three games this season.
