Arizona Cardinals practice at night in anticipation of Rams game

The Arizona Cardinals are practicing at night this week to get used to the night kickoff against the St. Louis Rams on Thursday.

Scheduled to play the St. Louis Rams Thursday night, the Arizona Cardinals have moved their practices this week in anticipation of the change. On top of it being a quick turnaround from Sunday's win against the Miami Dolphins, the players practiced at night on Monday to get used to the evening kickoff time.

"You have to push your massages back, you have to push your chiropractor back, things like that," linebacker Quentin Groves said. "It gets you in a different mindset."

With a 5:20 p.m. MST kickoff in St. Louis, the nighttime practice hasn't been welcome to all of the Cardinals.

Wide receiver Andre Roberts, who caught the tying touchdown catch in regulation against Miami, said he'd rather get practice over with in the afternoon. But defensive end Calais Campbell said the move was good to get players' bodies used to being focused at night, a time when they're usually relaxing.

This week is also different in how much film Arizona is watching. They'll spend more time doing that this week, considering the short break and quick trip to St. Louis, where the Cardinals will only spend about a day before game-time.
