The Arizona Cardinals are currently watching the NFL playoffs from home, but their front office is almost certainly hard at work preparing for the 2012 NFL Draft. This year's class is deep and versatile, which is good for Arizona, since they have a lot of holes to patch up to try and ensure their next season ends up better than their last.
The Cardinals own the No. 13 overall pick in the draft. The National Football Post has written up a new mock draft to try to make sense of who will end up where. Their latest projection has the Cardinals selecting OLB/DE Melvin Ingram of South Carolina in the first round. Their reasoning:
Ingram has the ability to play with his hand on the ground or rush off the edge from a two-point stance. He's a sudden pass rusher with natural change of direction skills, long arms and could offer some talent and versatility to the Cardinals defense on third down.
A dynamic pass rusher would certainly be a welcome tool in the Arizona arsenal in 2012.
