NFL Mock Draft 2012: Rob Rang Has Cardinals Taking Wide Receiver

NFL Draft Analyst Rob Rang has emerged as a very highly respected source for player analysis and I've found his evaluations to be fair and well-argued. As a Northwest native that has followed the Seahawks and their NFC West rival Cardinals a little more closely than the rest of the NFL, I tend to pay heed to his mock drafts a little more seriously than others. Rang, in his latest mock draft, has the Cardinals taking a very intriguing prospect at the 13th spot:

Said Rang:

Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor: The Cardinals surprised many when they stuck to their board and took cornerback Patrick Peterson with the fifth pick overall last April when they had bigger areas of need. Similarly, if there were a pass rusher or offensive tackle worthy of consideration here the Cardinals would obviously be interested but with none of value available, Arizona could be forced to look at alternative options. One attractive possibility would be adding a playmaker opposite Larry Fitzgerald like Wright.

Adding another receiver opposite Fitzgerald may not be such a luxury after all, especially if Early Doucet leaves in free agency. Though Andre Roberts impressed in the later part of the year, Wright would be a potentially elite talent on offense, and another potent weapon for Kevin Kolb or John Skelton.
