At 12 AM this morning, the latest edition of the video game franchise was released. Madden NFL 12 is now on sale. Gamers and football fans everywhere rejoice because they all have an excuse to get together and have something in common. Players in the NFL use their downtime playing this game, especially to see what stats they can pile up with themselves.
↵As Cardinals fans, we should have extra excitement because the team will look different. Gone will be Derek Anderson. Kevin Kolb is now the guy that will manage the Cardinals team.
↵Last year's version of Madden was a bad one for the Cardinals. They were the least used team on the game across the country and in no instance did the use spike at all.
↵This year, I imagine this will change. People will want to know how Kolb will do. Patrick Peterson is the highest rated rookie on the game. Larry Fitzgerald was voted by the fans to receive a 100 rating in spectacular catches. Will Beanie Wells be able to play a full season on the game?
↵Naturally, there will be broad appeal for teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and their supposed "Dream Team," especially since Michael Vick is absolutely a monster on the game.
↵Why is the Madden franchise so successful? Obviously, it has the exclusive NFL licensing so it has the players and rosters, and it matches the players and their real life counterparts pretty accurately.
↵I think the answer comes down to two things. One is that we all love football. The other is because we all wish we could be good at it. the only way most of us can do that is through a video game.
↵So, let the games begin. Time to pretend we can play football at the highest level.
