Seahawks Sign Former Cardinals DT Alan Branch To Two-Year Deal

The Cardinals defense lost their Pro Bowl cornerback to the Philadelphia Eagles this afternoon via trade, and ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that one of their defensive tackles has left the team as well -- this time through free agency.

Alan Branch collected 35 tackles, two sacks and forced two fumbles during Arizona's 2010 campaign. The Seattle Seahawks decided to offer him a two-year deal worth $8 million -- $4 million of that is guaranteed.

The loss of Branch is another significant blow to the defensive core of the Cardinals, who didn't draft a defensive tackle in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Branch, while a good lineman, is not anyone to truly fret over. While showing flashes of greatness, consistency was never something you could rely on. While it's never good to lose a starting position player to an interdivisional rival, $8 million is way too much to pay for Alan Branch.

Lets see what Rod Graves can grab on the free agent market this week.
